Sports & Remedial Massage techniques can be used on post-acute & chronic problems. Techniques such as Muscle Energy Technique (MET), Soft Tissue Release (STR), Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) & Myofascial Release (MFR) give great results when combined with general massage. The techniques combine loosening, stretching & strengthening to reduce muscle or soft tissue tension, decrease pain & stimulate the repair process.
Muscle Energy Technique (MET) – encourages inactive muscles to switch on & stimulates the nervous system allowing muscles to stretch safely returning to their desired length resulting in increased range of motion at joints.
Soft Tissue Release (STR) – a pin & stretch technique used in many ways to stretch & release congested tissue.
Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) – addresses the nervous system to reduce pain, tension & deactivate trigger points.
Myofascial Release (MFR) – a slow, deep technique that releases connective tissue surrounding muscles, tendons & ligaments increasing functional movement.
